King's Day

thursday 31 mar 2016

On 27 April it’s time to celebrate King’s Day. It is the birthday of King Willem Alexander, and this means it’s PARRTY TIME!

The Stadhuisplein and the Koornbrug will serve as a stage for music, dance and several bands. Leiden’s ‘vrijmarkt’ (flea market) will take place along the Nieuwe Rijn and around the Hooglandse Kerk. On the Beestenmarkt a children’s funfair will be set up and this year you will find an antiques- and bric-a-brac market in the Breestraat and Steenschuur.

If you travel to Leiden by public transport, you can reach the Stadhuisplein from the Central station on foot in just over fifteen minutes. Should you travel by car, you will find a sufficient number of parking facilities in the city. The parking facilities at the Garenmarkt, Breestraat and Kaasmarkt are situated closest to the party zone.
